How to edit text in a PDF
- Tap Choose a PDF and pick your file.
- Tap the text you want to change, type the correction and press Enter.
- Tap Save PDF, then Preview or Download PDF.
How editing works
DocSlim finds the lines of text in your PDF. When you change one, the old text is covered with the background colour and your new text is written in the same place, size and colour. Everything else in the PDF stays exactly as it was.
What you can edit
- PDFs made on a computer, like forms, letters and notes, where you can select the text.
- English letters, numbers and common symbols.
Scanned PDFs and photos of documents have no real text, so they can't be edited this way. The replacement text uses a standard font (Helvetica or Times), so it may look slightly different from the original font.
Frequently asked questions
Can I edit a scanned PDF?
No. A scanned PDF is a picture of the page, so there's no text to change. This tool works with PDFs that were created digitally.
Can I delete text?
Yes. Tap the text, clear it and press Enter. The text is covered with the background colour.
Can I type in Hindi or other languages?
Not yet. The online editor supports English letters, numbers and common symbols.
Is the old text completely removed?
It's covered so nobody can see it on screen or when printed, but it stays inside the file and can still be found by copying or searching the PDF's text. If the old text is private, print the edited PDF to a new PDF, or compress it with Compress PDF, which keeps only what you see.
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. The PDF is made inside your browser on your own device. Your files are never uploaded, stored or seen by anyone.
